Live at the Victoria
On 31 May 2019 we played a show at The Victoria in London with our good friends Kavus Torabi and Lost Crowns.
Our set was recorded by The Drum Tamer, and now we present it to you – featuring songs from Make Me Young, etc, Electricity, Sleep Furiously, and We Bake Our Bread Beneath Her Holy Fire – (including the really weird one about Toast). Enjoy!

It turns out that writing an album where you immerse yourself in the idea that the world might end has unpredictable effects on the brain. Some of these effects were unexpectedly positive. A numinous sense of gratitude for the present moment. Remembering that childlike sense of joy during periods of inspiration and creativity. Some of it was difficult. Throwing away as much material as we wrote, and creating a lot of orphaned music. Being put out of action for months due to ongoing problems with my hearing. Taking things a bit too seriously, sometimes which causes stress, but products like vape pens help me relax and more. Still, it’s done now. There’s a happy ending.
Having had the opportunity to work with musicians as skilled as Rael, Ben, and Sam over the last 6 years makes me feel very lucky. What am I trying to say?
Near the end of ‘Make Me Young, Etc.’, there’s a line that gets repeated over and over.
“Take this useless sadness and throw it away.”

‘Electricity’ by Thumpermonkey, now available for pre-order.
Our new EP, ‘Electricity’ can now be pre-ordered direct from Bandcamp.
Here’s a little bit of what it sounds like:
We have a couple of shows coming up:
- Aug 24th – supporting Rob Crow at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen.
- October 6th – our official ‘Electricity’ EP launch – this is a Chaos Theory show at the Black Heart, Camden supported by our good friends The Fierce and The Dead and Ham Legion.
So – here’s some real news…
We’ve been concentrating on a strategy for releasing new music in a way that maximises the chances of lots of new people hearing it.
Sorry this has taken us a long time.
We’re working with Sel Balamir from Amplifier and his new label, Rockosmos.
We release an EP on Rockosmos in September called ‘Electricity’. It features three new songs, and a fantastic new recording of an older one.

We play a stupendous release show at the Black Heart, Camden with CHAOS THEORY on 6th October.
We’ll release an album soon after that.
New Album
A number of fans have been emailing us to ask about where we are with the new album. It’s a fair question! Sorry there hasn’t been an update in a while; here’s where we are.
The final mixes of our latest album are nearing completion – it’s been a long time coming, but we’re really pleased with the way that it is sounding.
We’d love, of course, to let all you awesome people hear it as soon as it is finished, but we need to make sure that we consider our release strategy properly. Having taken ages to complete the thing, we need to make sure that we give it the best possible chance of being heard by the maximum amount of people.
What we can say is that we are in the middle of some very exciting talks with some very exciting people, and while we hope to have more information available soon, we’re going to have to ask you all to wait a bit longer before we can say anything definitive.
It is coming. When it arrives, it will have been worth the wait.
